Box Hill, Victoria

1904 sqm

Completion Date:
April 2021

The Grove Group is responsible for the current generation of three-storey classrooms built for the Victorian Government. These buildings are purpose built for schools that don’t have an extensive array of land, the triple-storey classroom utilises maximum efficiency of space by building upwards. The Box Hill project saw us pioneer a new way of constructing relocatable buildings to get the most out of a space.

With two existing relocatable buildings located where the two Triple-Storey buildings were to be placed, Grove removed the existing relocatable buildings over the school holidays and completed the civil works to minimise disruption to the school and their learning environment.

Two side by side triple-storey buildings were required for the Box Hill project, making this an Australian first. With a new design to allow the two buildings to seamlessly integrate to benefit learning, the Box Hill project offers a solution to a standard problem that many schools face throughout Victoria.

Grove worked hand in hand with key stakeholders of the project which included the local council, sporting clubs, the VSBA, Metropolitan Fire Brigade for fire compliance and communication with Metro Trains Victoria as the site was in close proximity to train lines. Working together with the stakeholders, Grove was able to produce Australia’s first side by side triple-storey classroom maximising the use of limited space and minimising learning disruption.

“A well-planned job, with an excellent result for the school”
