Test miles helps Grove pair “hit the ground running”

Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS continues this weekend (May 7-9) at The Bend Motorsport Park where Grove Motorsport will convene for Round 3.

Taking place at the spectacular South Australian circuit located near Tailem Bend, the upcoming round will be the most high profile yet for the series.

Father and son duo Stephen and Brenton Grove consolidated their position in the GTWC Australia championship last time out at Bathurst and have had time in-between rounds to make improvements.

The team carried out a recent test day at The Bend with their Porsche 911 GT3 R, putting the Groves in a good place to continue taking the fight to their Audi and Mercedes rivals.

Following two rounds of competition at Phillip Island and Mount Panorama, the Grove pair sit fourth in the Pro-Am standings aboard the Grove Group/Dasher + Fisher entry.

“It’s exciting to be able to head to The Bend with a test under our belt,” said Stephen.

“Previously we’ve had to adapt to the track and get up to speed in the car during the two limited practice sessions which made things hard.

“This weekend we should be able to hit the ground running.”

GT cars will tackle the 4.95km circuit layout at The Bend, with the round supporting the OTR SuperSprint Supercars event.

Action commences on Friday with two practice sessions, and qualifying in the afternoon at 15:25 local time.

A one-hour race will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.

Fox Sports Channel 506 will carry the coverage of the latter two days, with Race 1 scheduled for 11:35 local time on Saturday and Race 2 at 10:00 AEST on Sunday.
