Where have we seen this before?

The #17 Ford Mustang leading Bathurst heading into the final lap, with a hungry bunch of lunatics on my backside chasing Mount Panorama glory!

It was ironic. And weird. And I know it wasn’t real, but I’ve gotta say it was still bloody cool.

I will add I was way more vulnerable on Wednesday night in the latest round of the Supercars All Stars eSeries than in the real thing last October heading into the final lap.

And I was more fortunate to be in the lead of the race – I’m happy to admit I was in P1 purely because of my team’s strategy call, rather than my efforts.

Like the real Bathurst 1000 it came down to the final corner of the final lap, what a lap it was, watching it back on social media was so cool and the comments from our fans, how passionate everyone was. It was awesome, this is why we are doing this series, to keep us RELEVANT. It is working!

I was initially surprised SVG wasn’t pushing Brodie harder, but on reflection, I reckon Shane deliberately sat back thinking Brodie might just have taken us both out and cruised through for the win!

It was such cool racing, I’ve been surprised by the reaction at how much people loved watching it and how nervous they were.

I must admit I watched the finish back yesterday and it was so awesome, the racing is genuinely thrilling and the vision is unbelievably close to the real thing.

Kudos to all of those involved in the sport for putting it together, and I’m thrilled the hype around the sport at this tough time is so positive, and the ratings on television and social media have been so strong.

And there’s so huge surprise the same folk on social media who normally pile into me, are still piling into me! Turns out most of them were the ones who were against the virtual racing concept altogether. I’m glad they’re still watching!

Anyway, it’s cool to be the Bathurst 1000 winner in real and virtual racing.

And it’s nice to be the leader of the Supercars Championship – in both the real and virtual series!

I will say it was cool to have my Team Penske colleague Will Power back racing in a Supercar – I’d love the IndyCar legend back running at Mount Panorama in a real Supercar soon! It’s nice to see how much he loves our series and our cars.

We go racing again next Wednesday at two cracking race tracks for Round 4 of the All Stars eSeries – the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada, and Watkins Glen in New York State where Marcos Ambrose had so much success.

Keep an eye out for another Penske teammate of mine, Joey Logano is guest driving on Wednesday night. The fella goes OK…

Before that, this Sunday I’m in the IndyCar again at the Circuit of the Americas.

It’s the same track I tested the IndyCar in real life in February, and I’ve spent a lot of time driving the track on the sim, so I have high hopes of doing well for Round 5 of the iRacing IndyCar Challenge.

Unfortunately, I lost the lead of the series lead last weekend at Motegi – but probably the best said about that the better.

I’m still a little dirty with being taken out by a backmarker, Oliver Askew, while I was duking it out with Will Power for the race lead with ten laps to go.

It would have been a cracking finish and I was pretty confident we could have grabbed our second win.

Still, onwards and upwards this week.
